Brianna Ladapo

Health expert Brianna Ladapo is a busy woman! Between operating her popular blog, running NIA classes and writing articles and books, she’s always on the go. It would be easy for Brianna to let herself get run down. Fortunately Brianna knows that attention to diet and exercise are the keys to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Brianna’s Exercise of Choice: Nia

There is no one perfect exercise regimen. Different people will naturally gravitate toward different styles of exercise. It is important, however, to integrate exercise into your daily life.

However, holistic health writer Brianna Ladapo thinks that the Nia technique bestows immeasurable benefits. Nia is a relatively new movement technique that synthesizes the best from dance and martial arts. Invented in 1983 by Debbie and Carlos Ayas Rosas, Nia is now practiced in 45 countries worldwide.

Brianna herself is a certified Nia trainer with a blue belt in this exhilarating movement technique. Before she focused on Nia, Brianna was an ardent devotee of yoga. Before that, Brianna was a dancer. She’s been training in ballet, jazz, modern dance, tap and hip-hop since the age of three.

So what captivates Brianna Ladapo about Nia? Ask the multifaceted personality that, and she’s eager to share Nia’s many attractions. First and foremost, Brianna enjoys the fact that Nia is an integrative approach. It draws on movements and techniques from martial arts and the dance world.

Second, Nia is inclusive. People of all fitness and skill levels participate in Nia side by side. Each gets something profound and helpful from their Nia practice.

Nia doesn’t require any special equipment of shoes. In fact, the best way to practice Nia is to be barefoot so you can feel your connection with the earth.

Best of all, Nia is just plain fun. People look forward to their Nia training sessions! Nia uses music that gets feet tapping and souls stirring. Nia is a joyous explosion that binds body, spirit and heart together in movement.

Brianna’s Diet of Choice: Veganism

Brianna has been a vegan for many years. She feels strongly that this diet is the best one for promoting health and environmental awareness.

Veganism is a dietary regimen that eschews the ingestion of any animal products. While many vegetarians eat milk, eggs and even fish, vegans like Brianna get all their nutrients from plants.

Is this healthy? Brianna thinks so. After all, the human intestinal tract clearly shows that humans were primarily meant to eat roots and berries. Carnivores have very short intestinal tracts so they can absorb animal proteins quickly. In contrast, herbivores have much longer intestinal tracts to facilitate plant digestion.

There are many reasons for choosing a vegan lifestyle. Some people choose it with a particular health goal in mind that they want to achieve. The vegan diet is very effective for losing weight. Others choose it as part of a political statement they want to make.

Fitness guru Brianna Ladapo is a vegan because her focus has always been holistic health. She wants to be a healthy human being on a healthy planet. So long as factory farms confine animals in cruel ways, Brianna refuses to eat eggs or milk.

There are many misconceptions about the vegan diet out there. One of the most persistent is that the vegan diet just doesn’t taste very good. This is so untrue! In fact, there are many delicious vegan foods to tempt the palate.

Take vegan buttermilk pancakes, for example. These are made with soymilk that has been slightly curdled. These pancakes are every bit as scrumptious as the buttermilk pancakes made with buttermilk.

How about a tasty green salad, loaded with berries, topped with fakin’ bacon? Believe it or not, potato chips and pretzels are both foods that are allowable on a vegan diet.

Brianna publishes great vegan recipes on her popular blog. She even has a recipe for tasty vegan cupcakes!

Taking the Vegan Plunge With Brianna Ladapo

If Brianna’s ideas have intrigued you, perhaps you’re ready to start eating a vegan diet. Give yourself some time to transition from your old diet to your new diet. Eliminate dietary items slowly, one at a time.

Although foods are not addictive in the same ways medications can be, nonetheless you do withdraw from them. Give up milk and then wait a week to see how you feel. Next, give up eggs.

Here are some tips from fitness expert Brianna Ladapo to help you make a successful transition to vegan eating.

  • Clean Out Your Cupboard

First get rid of all your animal foods. Don’t throw them out. Instead, donate them to a food bank or to a friend who isn’t ready to become a vegan yet.

Remember, there are many animal products in shelf foods you don’t think of as animal products. Bakery bought cookies, for example, almost always have eggs added to them.

  • Buy a Great Vegan Cookbook

Nobody wants to substitute a tasty diet for a bland diet. You won’t have to if you shift to veganism. There are many great vegan cookbooks on the market. Check out Brianna’s own blog for great recipes, or check out the cookbooks by Isa Chandra Moskowitz.

  • Study Up On Vegan Proteins

There are many vegan proteins on the market and they all taste so great! Take tofu, for example. Properly prepared, tofu is a real delicacy. Try pan-sautéing tofu or add some to a delicious miso soup. Smoked tofu tastes almost exactly like pate, but without the element of animal cruelty.

Black beans are another popular vegan protein. So are other legumes, nuts and nut butters. You’ll find many amazing ways to prepare vegan proteins in Brianna’s diet and in vegan cookbooks.

  • Be Experimental

Try a new combination of fruits, vegetables and protein every day. You won’t like them all. Your creativity, though, will be rewarded by flavor combinations you never dreamed were possible.
